A road run held by Juneau Parks and Recreation. The six mile course ran from the Glacier parking lot to Auke Bay School; the ten mile went along the back Loop Road and finished back at the Glacier. Refreshments afterwards, and a certificate for every finisher.
Aimed at occasional joggers as much as at racers. "We want to encourage people who are occasional joggers to come," said coordinator Mary Hakala, a marathon runner who had raced in Europe and at Boston. "It's not so much fun to run alone."
The second in a series of summer events organised jointly by the Taku Striders and Juneau Parks and Recreation, and promoted as training for the department's own marathon that July. |
